OBJECTIVE - SCOPE

The objective of the network is the resolution of the existing measurement problems (efficiency and emissions of boilers) in order to:
  • In general, improve the interlaboratory reproducibility between the partners (members of the network);
  • In particular, allow a satisfactory application of directives related to efficiency of fuel oil and gas boilers.

The network is an information exchange platform on measurement aspects. The sharing of experience on new instruments, new procedures etc. will avoid the situation where each laboratory individually uses costly hours in solving problems, which have already been solved by others or could be solved at lower cost by sharing the expenses.

Among the network activities inter-comparisons are organised where the same appliance is tested by several laboratories.

The scope of the network is defined as "Testing related to boilers". However, issues related to other appliances, (when relevant, e.g. direct fired hot water appliances) are discussed in the group.

At the time mainly, efficiency and emissions are discussed in LABNET. Hot water production, electricity measurement are among the new activities of LABNET.

The partners are developing new test procedures in order to keep the measurement quality above a minimum level defined and agreed upon in the network and are proposing amendments to the relevant standards (when relevant).

The new requirements are gathered in GLP documents.
